Class Types
Pilates
At the foundation of the Pilates movement are the concepts of
stability, mobility and mindfulness. A stable trunk, and joints, is the
best platform from which to develop whole-body muscular strength,
endurance, balance and flexibility. Mindfulness of these concepts
allows one to move in a way that reduces energy wastage (poor technique
and fatigue), tissue overload (injury), and muscle confusion (poor
alignment/ imbalance). The balanced approach of Pilates ensures that no
muscle group is overworked; the body operates as an efficient, holistic
system during the exercises and with time and repetition this
translates into natural postural realignment and balance.

Vinyasa Yoga
This class type is a hybrid of the traditional systems of Hatha and
Ashtanga Yoga. The poses are performed in a flowing manner
linking movement with breath. A strong focus is placed on
awareness and proper technique. You will be called upon to be a
witness to your body and mindful of your movements and intentions. The
use of yoga blocks and bands are made to assist in the safe execution
of the poses.

Fusion
This class combines exercises and principles from both the Pilates
Method as well as poses and principles from Vinyasa. Perfect for
those who like to dab a little in both worlds but don’t have the time
to dedicate a whole class to each respective discipline

Anusara-Themed Yoga
Classes
Anusara Yoga is a modern school of hatha yoga
grounded in a Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness,
that was started by John Friend iin 1997. The emphasis of the school is
on a set of "Universal Principles of
Alignment" which underlie all postures, "heart opening" postures and
the spiritual/meditative benefits of Hatha Yoga.
The practice of Anusara Yoga can be broadly
categorized into three parts: Attitude, Alignment, and Action.
Attitude,
according to John Friend, is the "power of the
heart as the force behind every action or expression in an asana." It
is "the aspiration to reawaken to our divine nature, and the
celebration of life.
Alignment, according to John Friend, is the
"mindful awareness of how various parts of ourselves are integrated and
interconnected.
The concept of Action is related to the body.
Action, according to John Friend, is the "natural
flow of energy in the body, which provides both stability and joyful
freedom."
Anusara-themed classes
are lighthearted, positive and fun. They are not easy,
however, as they include vinyasa flow and a lot of alignment work. The
emphasis on props, however, makes them accessible to students of
differing abilities. Anusara appeals to those who want to work both
their physical and spiritual well-being.

Pre-Natal
Pre-Natal Yoga Classes provide an opportunity for expectant women to
develop greater vitality and awareness of their body that is home for
two, as well as to deepen their relationship with their baby.
Gentle postures, breath work, vocal toning and meditation are learned
to cultivate flexibility, calm and confidence in preparation for labour
and childbirth. Women are empowered to enhance their ability to
access greater relaxation, comfort and enjoyment during their pregnancy.
